Sexual Aftercare
With sex, as with life, it’s all about the process...
Whether through the media, our upbringing or the sex education we’ve received (or not), “our culture uses a performance model for sex: It’s treated as though there is a goal, one right way to achieve it, and anything else is a failure,” says sexologist Chris Donaghue, in “Well + Good”. That’s how we miss out on the after-sex conversation.
June 2021 at My Sex Bio we’ll be exploring the concept of SEXUAL AFTERCARE.
Here are a few questions we’re addressing:
What exactly is aftercare and how long after sex can it be considered so?
Why is aftercare important and when is aftercare needed?
What are possible aftercare rituals or routines in and out of the kinky world?
What does a proper sexual aftercare kit contain?
What are possible ways to communicate with others about aftercare needs?
Before we set out to explore the world of aftercare, we invite you to set aside a few uninterrupted minutes, grab pen and paper, and consider the following:
📝What do you do right after you have sex?
📝What do your partners do after having sex with you?
📝How do you usually feel emotionally and physically right after you have sex?
📝Does this change in specific contexts? (e.g. Sex in a relationship vs. casual sex) June 2021
