Friday Five: 5 Questions to Get to Know Someone
You know that moment when you start talking with someone you find interesting? That rush that makes you want to keep the conversation going? 😏 But you don’t know what to ask? 🙃 While making small talk can be simple, actually getting to know someone new isn't always easy.
Keep reading and learn 5 useful questions to get to know someone new 🗨️
1. About Motivation
Well, what motivates you? Our motivations can reveal more about ourselves than many other topics. Without motivation, life can feel off or routine.
Maybe it’s related to their personal growth, their work, or maybe it’s completely dedicated to other people. This can also be a good question to reflect on yourself.
Don’t be afraid to ask:
“What do you find the most motivating in your day?”
2. About Relaxation
While life can be hectic and grounding yourself isn’t always easy, knowing how to find relaxation is key. It also says a lot about the person in front of you.
Finding relaxation in gaming, yoga, or going out each offers a different experience. Maybe you and this person share the same relaxation tactic.😅
You can ask:
“What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long day?”
3. About Hobbies
All kids have one, but not every adult has found their hobby yet. Finding one sustainable hobby can seem like an impossible mission sometimes, but once you get there, it feels amazing.
The process of finding a hobby you enjoy can also be enlightening—think back to how you found yours (assuming you’ve already found one😛).
In this case, the question would be:
“What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them?”
4. About Passion
Everyone has a topic they could talk about for hours, right? Something you know everything about or want to know everything about, that can keep you engaged for hours.
Ideally, everyone has something they’re passionate about, and it says a lot about who they are. It’s always good to know!
You can ask:
“What subjects, current events, or causes are you passionate about?”
5. About Fulfillment
A fulfilling life, a happy life… it can mean different things to different people. Knowing someone’s idea of happiness is an open door to their values and dreams.
This one might be a little intimate, so asking when the conversation has gotten deep would be ideal.
Don’t be afraid to ask:
“What’s your definition of a fulfilling life?”
Take these prompts as a place to start and make them your own!
The important part is getting to genuinely know the person you're talking with so you can best gauge your compatibility and have fun!
