Eco Sexual is a term coined by Annie Sprinkle, former prostitute & porn star, now author, sex guru and activist leading the ecosex movement.

Keep reading for 5 ways to explore Eco Sexuality.

  1. Manifesto

    What, who, how?

โ€œThe Earth is our lover. We are madly, passionately, and fiercely in love, and grateful for this relationship each and every day. We treat the Earth with kindness, respect, and affection. We make love with the Earth. We shamelessly hug trees, massage the Earth with our feet, and talk erotically to plants. We caress rocks, are pleasured by waterfalls, and admire the Earthโ€™s curves often.โ€

2. Eco sensual

As the manifesto offers, make love to the Earth with your senses by romanticizing all the wonderful pleasures she offers. Enjoy an afternoon delight of walking through your local park barefoot, sans cellular distractions. Notice the attractive flowers, birds and rocks. Absorb the sweet smells and gentle sounds.

3. Activist action

โ€œWe will save the mountains, skies and water by any means necessary.
We will stop the rape, abuse and poisoning of the Earthโ€

โ€” Eco Sex Manifesto

No matter how โ€œsmallโ€ it might seem, your conscious contribution to minimize waste, replenish the land and recycle resources WILL make a difference. Do you have a backyard? Start your own compost!

If you donโ€™t have your own yard, find a local community garden with this global soil site locator. Food scraps in the trash are a thing of the past. Well, the recent past, as composting is a practice that traces back to Ancient Romans, Greeks and indigenous tribes.

4. Buy Less, Be More

โ€œ As consumers, we aim to buy less. When we must, we buy green, organic and local.โ€

โ€” Eco Sex Manifesto

Not only is organic food production more sustainable for the planetโ€”supporting organic farming promotes access for all. The more that we buy organic, the more affordable it becomes allowing everyone, regardless of income, to enjoy quality produce. Buying local food also reduces shipping pollution and encourages us to eat seasonally which is healthier for our digestion and microbiome. Feeling good from the inside out is sexy, periodt!

5. Pledge Against ____

We challenge you to share your devotion to the Earth by pledging to eliminate (or at least reduce) pollution for an entire month. Reduce your carbon footprint by committing to ridesharing, bicycling, and walking. Gradually work to eliminate plastic from your household by minimizing your consumption over the next weeks. Avoid buying anything online to avoid shipping emissions and packaging waste.

Decide what you can commit to for an entire month and challenge yourself to stick with it. Your relationship with the Earth will flourish as you show her some acts of service lovinโ€™.
