Friday Five: This Year’s Sexiest Moments

In these past 12 months, we’ve shared juicy tips, anecdotal wisdom and well-researched science on over 30 sex-ed topics throughout our blog, podcast and socials. We’ve kept you in the know on everything from exploring ethically non-monogamous relationships and kinks to tracking menstrual cycles and upkeeping your sexual wellness.

Take 5 minutes for highlights of our favorite moments of ‘22.

In 2022 we…

  1. Demystified Tantra

In 2022, we produced over 75 YouTube resources with over 300 hours of watch time, including interviews with sex & relationship experts, industry workers and erotica content creators.

We also had the chance to speak with inspiring folks like Meditation Teacher Gustavo Monje, host of the Youtube channel Emotionally Fit Yogi (previously known as Tantra Thoughts), where he shares tantric wisdom and meditation techniques to boost one’s emotional fitness. In our conversation, he answers these inquisitive questions:

How do Tantra and sex intersect? What questions can we ask ourselves/potential partners to better understand and improve our emotional intelligence in partnership(s)?

New to Tantra?

2. Liberated our Kinky Curiosities

“Rope for me can be grounding, freeing, meditative, stimulating, calming, healing, sexual and non-sexual, artistic and athletic—I find it challenging me mentally, emotionally, physically, and even spiritually—super risky within a container of safety practices and risk-aware informed consent practices.”

Whiskey Ginger

Although BDSM is known for its aggressive and intense nature, the community itself takes extra care to remain safe, consensual and empowering within their sexual play practice.

If you’re wanting to bring rope or other dominatrix play into the bedroom, we shared some tips about how to have these conversations with your partner(s).

3. Elevated our Minds, Bodies & Relationships

We hosted 39 hours of enriching sex, relationship and mental wellness education workshops and classes through My Sex Bio Studio. We hope our community feels nourished, supported and curious to dive deeper into their exploration of sexuality.

Stay tuned for new classes this upcoming spring!

4. Ate Bite Size Sex Ed

@mysexbio We loooove p*rn—but it shouldn't be our s*x education nor our first encounter with the world of s*x. Our most viewed TikTok of 2022 featured Sex Educator Gigi Engle, an award-winning feminist author, certified sex educator and psychotherapist in training.

Her book, All the F*cking Mistakes: A Guide to Sex, Love, and Life, is “the ultimate sex-talk book, demystifying female sexuality without any of the awkwardness of ‘the talk.’” AKA “Sex handbook for the millennial feminist on how to own your body and sexuality, and use that confidence to take charge of your life.”

5. Deepened our Healing Practices

We’re gradually moving into a new age of collective healing with society’s focus shifting to the importance of mental health, trauma recovery and healthy wellness habits. Now is the time to reflect upon our past and incorporate daily healing practices to move us into a better future.

Healing from sexual traumas is a deeply personal and explorative process that requires patience, vulnerability and self-love. Sexual traumas can be anything from assault to being inappropriately groped or forced to perform sexual acts. I first began doing healing work with my yoni* (vagina) after learning about Tantric healing massages and finding Psalm Isadora, a renowned Tantric sex educator, sex coach and yoga teacher.

Happy New Year!
